As an ICT adviser I may be requested to perform a business review, this will involve a top down review of the clients business, starting with the business plans, providing that such a plan exists.
It will also be dependant on the client request or terms of reference, which may be specific. For example, this could be to review the current ICT, and make recommendations on its benefit to the business, and how strategically and tactically it can be changed or improved.
On other occasions I have been asked to share the business plan with a view and focus to better position the next three years of the business life.
As technology now plays an important, integral part as the engine room or heart of any business, quite naturally a strategy and subsequent plan will evolve and be positioned.
However I believe fundamentally, the business needs to understand where it is currently and where it wants to go for its future prosperity and existence. This may need a visioning process to determine this, and it is vital to be clear.
